For 60 years UNICEF has been the world’s
leader for children, working on the ground in
156 countries and territories to help children
survive and thrive, from early childhood
through adolescence. The world’s largest
provider of vaccines for developing countries,
UNICEF supports child health and nutrition,
good water and sanitation, quality basic
education for all boys and girls, and the
protection of children from violence,
exploitation, and AIDS.

SURFAID was founded by Dr. Dave
Jenkins after a vacation in the
Mentawai Islands, Indonesia, when he
discovered the degree of childhood
suffering occurring only meters from
luxury surf charter boats. In the worst
affected Mentawai villages, 53% of
Mentawia families have lost at least
one child between the ages of 0 and 12
years from preventable and treatable
diseases, such as malaria, measles,
tetanus and diarrhea.
