Back to Bamako
Drive to CRES to unload and pack up our stuff for the flight home. The time has come to hand over the Green Machine. I feel rather sad bidding her farewell. Many years of good service and finally a last mad 3 week roadtrip to Mali, and still going strong (with the help of an egg!).
A few beers in town and then the airport with innumerable surfboards (a constant source of amusement here in Mali, where people ask what they are, we explain, and they then look at us very bemused and ask “where!”) …see the Fascinating Soberanos team…..oops Royal Air Maroc have overbooked and at 3am we are sent packing back to CRES. Nice. So, here we are, still in Bamako waiting for tonights flight, slightly longer than planned (perhaps not really surprising given the way this trip has unfolded) but hopefully not too much longer!
